Customer-Supplied Car Polish: Confirm the Exact Product and Condition

A customer’s preferred polish can be considered only after its identity, condition and intended use are clear. Ownership of the bottle does not establish a suitable process.

Identify the working material

Read the exact product and available instructions. Record the batch or other supplied identification where useful, and ask about storage or changes to the contents. An unlabelled or modified bottle cannot be treated as a verified named product.

Check the intended system

Review compatibility with the tool, pad and actual paint. Distinguish polish, compound, glaze and protection products rather than relying on the customer’s general description. Resolve unclear instructions through the appropriate technical source.

Agree a controlled trial

Use a suitable test area and define the desired dry finish. Inspect after approved residue removal. Keep the product preference separate from a guarantee that the requested bottle will remove every mark or prepare paint for every coating.

Record acceptance or an alternative

Explain what the trial demonstrated and whether the process can proceed within the agreed scope. If the product condition or method remains uncertain, propose a verified system instead. Keep the decision in the job record.

Frequently asked question

Should a workshop use any bottle the customer provides?

No. Confirm the product and condition, then assess a suitable process. Where identity or suitability remains unknown, do not invent an answer.
