Custom Coating Packaging and Custom Formulation: Different Development Projects

Changing the bottle or label and developing a different formulation are distinct project scopes. State which change the buyer needs before discussing samples, timelines or development responsibilities.

The key distinction

A private-label project may use an established product with customized presentation, while another project may require technical development. Those possibilities can involve different evidence and approvals. A clear brief prevents a packaging discussion from being interpreted as a promise of new chemistry or exclusive performance.

Practical checks

  1. Describe the requested customer outcome and the exact proposed change.
  2. Ask the supplier which development scope is available and appropriate.
  3. Separate packaging approvals from formulation and performance evaluation milestones.

Example

Illustrative example: a buyer requests a premium-looking quartz coating pack but does not need a different application system. A packaging project may answer that need. Another buyer requires a verified change in a technical property, which cannot be established merely by redesigning the label.

Scope and limits

Do not claim that a rebranded product has a new formula unless that is documented. This guide does not promise customization options or exclusivity from NANOLAB. The supplier's current proposal should define what is being developed, what remains established and what evidence supports the final product description.
