Two bottles with the same product name but different batch identifiers can be compared through a practical acceptance check. The objective is to verify that the workshop process remains suitable, not to declare a formulation change from one unusual result.
Record batch identifiers, receipt dates and storage conditions. Prepare both bottles according to their instructions. A new bottle stored correctly and an old bottle exposed to unsuitable conditions do not isolate batch variation.
Use clean dispensing equipment and supported pad-machine combinations. Avoid returning test material to either bottle. Keep each pad’s use traceable so residue from the first sample does not enter the second.
Choose a suitable test surface with comparable starting defects. Keep the inspection method and acceptance criteria fixed. Where practical, alternate the order across separate comparable areas so operator learning or pad wear does not always favour the second bottle.
Record correction, residual haze, wipe-off, pad maintenance and total time. A small difference in one subjective score should not become a broad claim of inferior quality without repeatable evidence.
If one sample behaves unexpectedly, repeat a limited check with a fresh equivalent pad and verified preparation. Retain the first result in the record rather than delete it. If the difference persists, isolate the sample and contact the supplier with the batch and process details.
Do not alter the product to make it match the reference or mix the two batches together before the investigation is complete. That removes traceability and creates a new uncontrolled sample.
The acceptance decision should be specific: both batches meet the existing workflow, one needs further investigation, or the workshop process must be reviewed with the supplier. A controlled check supports purchasing confidence while avoiding an unsupported conclusion about chemistry based only on how one squeeze from a bottle felt.
