Coating Viscosity Units: Centipoise and Millipascal-Seconds

One centipoise equals one millipascal-second. The equal numerical value does not remove the need for matching test conditions.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Practical approach

Convert the unit label correctly and retain temperature, spindle or geometry, speed and timing.

A result of 25 cP is 25 mPa·s, but cannot be compared fairly with a differently conditioned test solely because the units now match.

Decision limits

Do not confuse these dynamic-viscosity units with centistokes, which describe kinematic viscosity.
