A revised test method may change details that matter to comparison. Keep the edition or revision in the record and review relevant changes before combining older and newer coating results into one trend.

The same method identifier can persist across editions, so the short name alone may conceal a change. The laboratory should explain whether the revision affects specimen preparation, procedure, calculation or reporting for the specific test. This prevents a method change from being mistaken for a product change.
Illustrative example: a supplier's historical data use an earlier method edition, while a new qualification uses the current edition. A difference in results may still be meaningful, but the buyer should first establish whether the procedures are comparable and whether any adjustment in interpretation is needed.
Do not assume every revision invalidates older data or that every revision is merely editorial. The responsible technical reviewer should assess the actual changes. This guide does not reproduce paid standards or provide an alternative procedure; use the current authorized method where required.
