Coating Samples Sent to a Laboratory: Preserve the Chain of Identity

A correct test on the wrong sample does not answer the purchasing question. Sample identity needs to survive preparation, shipment and laboratory receipt.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Practical approach

Use unique identifiers linked to product, batch, substrate and preparation records. Confirm that the laboratory's received-sample list matches the dispatch record.

Two clear liquids in identical bottles are easy to confuse if only the outer shipping box carries their names.

Decision limits

Do not rely on bottle colour or shipment position as identification. Resolve any mismatch before testing begins.
