Coating Project Staging: A Parallel Plan Must Respect Shared Equipment

Two tasks are not truly parallel if both need the same equipment at the same time. Check shared resources before promising a shorter coating-project schedule.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

The key distinction

A task diagram can appear efficient while hiding a single inspection instrument, preparation machine or access platform. Identify when each resource is needed and whether an approved alternative exists. Keep cure and environmental requirements separate from equipment availability.

Practical checks

  1. List critical shared resources by task.
  2. Place their use on the project schedule.
  3. Resolve conflicts through sequencing or an approved additional resource.

Example

Illustrative example: two teams plan to inspect separate areas simultaneously, but only one required instrument is available. The inspections must be sequenced or supported by a suitable additional instrument; adding staff alone does not remove the constraint.

Scope and limits

Do not substitute unqualified equipment to preserve a promised date. This planning check does not establish technical equivalence between tools or override the approved inspection method.
