Coating Consumption Ranges: Calculate Low and High Material Scenarios

When a pilot shows a credible consumption range, show the resulting material range rather than presenting one average as a guaranteed requirement. Keep the application method and surface scope attached to the estimate.

The key distinction

A range helps purchasing see how sensitive the order is to observed variation. It should come from relevant evidence or clearly labelled planning assumptions, not an arbitrary percentage added to make the estimate appear cautious.

Practical checks

  1. Define the accepted treated area.
  2. Apply the supported low and high consumption rates.
  3. Review packaging quantities and approved storage against both scenarios.

Example

Arithmetic example: for 100 square metres, illustrative rates of 8 and 12 millilitres per square metre imply 0.8 to 1.2 litres before separately defined losses or reserves.

Scope and limits

These rates are not NANOLAB coverage specifications. Do not use a low estimate as permission to underapply a coating. Follow the selected product's instructions and validate the actual process.
