Distinguish remaining sanding marks from removable residue and decide on a sensible correction boundary before ceramic coating.

Ceramic coating is not a reliable way to conceal sanding marks. If a panel has undergone sanding or body-shop refinement, inspect the finished paint before committing to protection. The coating stage should follow an agreed correction result, not substitute for one.
Clean away working residue using a process compatible with the paint and polishing system. Inspect under lighting that reveals the direction and depth of visible marks. A glossy wet surface or an oil-rich polish film can make an unfinished area appear more uniform than it is.
Compare several viewing angles, including the transition between repaired and surrounding paint. Record remaining marks before changing them. Their presence alone does not tell you how much safe correction is available.
Review paint history, thickness information where appropriate and the repairer’s instructions. A coating installer should not chase every defect without considering the remaining finish. Sanding and aggressive correction require suitable expertise; this guide is an inspection workflow, not a sanding recipe.
If a test area improves the marks safely, document the chosen process and outcome. If removal would exceed a sensible correction limit, discuss retaining some visible defects or referring the panel back for repair. Make that decision before the coating masks the timing of the issue.
Check the refined surface after it settles and after the prescribed final preparation. Inspect edges and body lines separately, where the finish can require greater restraint. Confirm any restrictions associated with fresh repair paint before selecting a coating date.
Use NANOLAB’s product instructions for the protection stage once the substrate is ready. Keep photographs of accepted remaining defects with the job record. They help the owner understand the difference between the paint’s starting condition, the correction achieved and the coating applied over that final finish.
