Bulk Coating Delivery Plans: Separate Call-Off Forecasts from Confirmed Releases

A forecasted release schedule and a confirmed shipment instruction are different records. Keep them distinguishable when a bulk coating agreement involves staged deliveries or call-offs.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

The key distinction

The actual commercial arrangement determines commitments and notice requirements. Operationally, both parties need to know which quantities are planning estimates and which have been confirmed for production or dispatch. A shared spreadsheet should not obscure that status.

Practical checks

  1. Label each planned release by status and revision.
  2. Record the confirmation event and responsible contact.
  3. Reconcile changes with the current supplier acknowledgement.

Example

Illustrative example: a buyer moves a forecast date, but the supplier has already confirmed the original release. The schedule change needs reconciliation rather than an assumption that the commitment changed automatically.
