Define what must be reviewed when a label, closure or box changes after approval.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge
A small packaging change can affect more than appearance. A different closure, label stock or box insert may alter handling, fit or the information presented to the customer. Use a change request to review the whole pack before approving the revision.
Identify the component, current version, proposed version and reason for the change. Include drawings or samples where useful. Distinguish a visual revision from a change that may affect product contact, dispensing or packing operations. Ask the supplier which technical checks are appropriate for the actual product and component.
Review the bottle, closure, label, box and instructions together. For example, a taller closure may affect an insert even when the bottle remains unchanged. A product rename may require updates to documents and support references as well as the front label.
Record the evidence reviewed, approval owner and date from which the new component applies. Identify how existing stock will be recognized and handled. Do not let two artwork versions share an indistinguishable filename. A useful release record allows the packing team to know which components belong together and the support team to identify which version a customer received. The process should prevent accidental mixtures without turning every minor correction into an unnecessary redesign.
Identify the proposed change, its reason, affected products, existing stock and documents that may need revision. Separate a graphic change from a change to bottle, closure, label material or kit contents. Different changes require different reviews.
If the carton is redesigned, check whether the instruction leaflet, barcode placement and packing process still fit. If the bottle changes, obtain the relevant compatibility and dimensional approval rather than treating it as a cosmetic swap. Define when the new packaging begins and how mixed stock will be identified. Keep old and new artwork versions linked to their production records so a customer photo can be matched to the correct product presentation.
