Distinguishing Surface Staining from PPF Discolouration

A change in PPF appearance can have several causes, including surface contamination, residue or a change within the film. The visual result alone does not identify the cause. Begin with a compatible wash and an inspection that distinguishes a local deposit from a broader colour change.

Establish the film and care history

Record the film identity, installation date if known and products used on it. Note whether the car has been parked under trees, exposed to particular contaminants or treated with additional coatings or sprays. Separate confirmed facts from assumptions about the cause.

Inspect after ordinary compatible cleaning
