Pricing a Ceramic Coating Kit with Optional Aftercare Products

Price a coating kit by separating the core installation package from optional aftercare items and showing the real cost of each configuration.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Optional aftercare products can make a coating kit more useful, but they can also obscure the core product’s price and create unwanted inventory. Build configurations around distinct customer needs and calculate each one explicitly.

Define the core kit

Identify what is necessary for the intended installation and what the buyer is expected to supply. Keep required protective equipment and current application instructions clear. Do not describe a kit as complete if essential items are omitted without explanation.

Separate optional functions

Component Customer question
Core coating Which surface and application does it serve?
Application accessories Are they needed or already owned?
Maintenance product When and why should it be used?
Extra packaging Does it add protection or presentation value?

Calculate each configuration

Use product cost, packaging, assembly, fulfilment and a consistent allowance for normal losses. Distinguish gross margin from markup when setting a target. A 40% margin means cost is 60% of selling price; it is not the same as adding 40% to cost.

For an illustrative cost of 30 currency units, a 40% gross-margin target implies a selling price of 30 / 0.60 = 50 units before any excluded charges. This is arithmetic for a hypothetical kit, not a recommended market price.

Review the buyer’s workflow

A professional installer may prefer coating-only supply, while a first-time buyer may value suitable accessories and clear guidance. A maintenance bundle should explain its role rather than implying that more products automatically improve protection.

Keep stock and support manageable

Limit configurations to meaningful choices and give each a clear component list. Record substitutions and ensure the instructions match the actual contents.

A strong kit offer makes the required installation path easy to understand and optional care easy to choose. Pricing should reflect the complete delivered configuration, with no hidden assumptions about what the customer already owns.

Discuss your private-label coating project. For application and care, use the current instructions for the exact product.
