A Coating Range with One Premium Product: Explain the Upgrade Clearly

A premium coating in a product range should offer a clearly explained, substantiated difference for a defined user.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

A premium coating in a product range should offer a clearly explained, substantiated difference for a defined user. A higher price or more elaborate box does not by itself tell buyers why the upgrade is appropriate. Build the comparison around documented features, application requirements and service needs.

Define the decision the buyer faces

Identify the intended surfaces and users for both products. Compare only features supported by current technical information, using the same conditions and definitions. If a performance statement comes from a particular test, keep that context attached rather than presenting it as a universal advantage.

Explain differences in preparation, application, cure and maintenance where they matter to the buyer. A product requiring a different working environment may suit one workshop better than another. Do not hide these requirements behind a simple better label.

Avoid implying that the standard product is inadequate for its approved purpose. A useful range comparison shows which application and support needs each product is designed to address.

Make the upgrade understandable

Test the explanation with representative customers. Ask them to describe when they would choose each product and what they believe the premium claim promises. Correct interpretations that extend beyond the evidence, such as assuming universal scratch immunity from a hardness label.

Keep sales pages, distributor training and packaging consistent with the approved comparison. Review customer feedback for expectations that the wording unintentionally creates. The upgrade should be easy to explain in a few factual sentences, with technical detail available for buyers who need it. Clear positioning helps customers choose a suitable product without relying on vague superiority language or unsupported service-life promises.
