A bank of stainless steel cabinets may include bare brushed metal, coloured decorative panels and factory fingerprint-resistant finishes. Their similar shape does not establish a shared coating specification. Identify the faces individually before selecting a preparation cleaner or applying one treatment across the installation.

Build a finish schedule

Use purchase records, manufacturer labels and supplier information to identify the panel finishes. Note replacement doors and decorative inserts separately. Do not infer the material solely from its colour or the way water behaves on it.

Record the permitted cleaning method for each finish and choose a common routine only where the instructions overlap. A cleaner approved for bare stainless may be unsuitable for a transparent factory layer. Keep uncertainty visible in the schedule rather than labelling every face simply stainless steel.

Inspect existing marks after approved cleaning. Some panels may already differ in gloss or colour because of finish type, age or replacement history. Photograph those differences before any new coating trial.

Assess each proposed coating combination

Use representative samples or agreed discreet areas for finishes that are explicitly compatible with the product. Compare the cured result under the installation lighting. Evaluate uniformity across adjacent doors rather than judging each isolated sample as acceptable on its own.

If one finish is not approved, exclude it from treatment and record the boundary. Do not apply extra product to force its appearance to match neighbouring panels. Give the cleaning team the final finish schedule with exact product names and exceptions. This supports consistent maintenance and prevents a later staff member from using an abrasive restoration method on a factory-coated door by mistake.
