An extension lead can drag against paint, snag a trolley or cross a wet work area while an operator concentrates on polishing. Route electrical equipment before starting the finish work. Cable management should support both the equipment's safety requirements and the protection of completed panels.
Use leads, connections and protective arrangements suitable for the equipment and working environment, following their instructions and local requirements. Inspect for damage and keep unsuitable equipment out of service. Do not improvise repairs or treat a detailing towel as electrical protection.
Position the supply so the operator can reach the planned working area without stretching the lead across the vehicle. Keep connections away from water and chemical exposure as required. Arrange a clear walking route and account for doors, trolley wheels and other people moving through the bay.
Follow the equipment instructions regarding cable reels, load and use. A lead that reaches the socket is not automatically appropriate for the tool connected to it.
Before changing sides or moving to a new panel, inspect where the cable now lies. A safe starting route can become a snag after the trolley or work light is repositioned. Keep the cable from rubbing against freshly corrected surfaces and avoid trapping it under equipment.
If a lead contacts paint, inspect both the surface and the cable for contamination before continuing. Resolve marks through the normal assessment process rather than assuming the contact was harmless. At close-down, disconnect and store equipment as instructed, checking for damage acquired during the job. Clear routing is a working habit, not a one-time setup photograph.
