Compound sling at startup and sling during an established cycle can have different causes.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge
Compound sling at startup and sling during an established cycle can have different causes. Timing the event helps identify whether the problem is initial distribution, excessive liquid, pad loading or unstable contact. Treat the two situations separately.
Review the manufacturer’s loading and spreading instructions. Check whether the pad was placed correctly before starting and whether the initial setting was appropriate. Confirm that the liquid was distributed as intended rather than concentrated in a large bead at one edge.
Inspect the nozzle for irregular dispensing. ‘Three drops’ is not a repeatable quantity if one bottle produces small dots and another releases a long stream. Use a consistent dispensing method during a trial without inventing a universal dose.
Stop and inspect the pad. Accumulated liquid and residue, repeated overloading or a change in pad angle may contribute. Note whether the event coincides with a curved panel, a difficult reach or lifting the machine away while it is still moving.
Follow the equipment instructions for starting, stopping and removing the tool from the surface. Do not sacrifice control to keep the machine moving while reaching for more product or repositioning a cable.
| Timing | First checks |
|---|---|
| Immediately on startup | Loading, spreading and initial setting |
| After several sections | Pad condition and repeated reload amount |
| At a contour or boundary | Contact angle and access |
| When lifting away | Tool shutdown and handling method |
After correcting the suspected cause, inspect the cleaned paint for defect removal and haze. Reducing sling by starving the pad is not a success if it compromises the working process. Use the amount and method supported by the product system.
Include cleanup around seams and adjacent surfaces in the trial record. Sling is not only a cosmetic inconvenience; it affects labour and contamination control. A reliable process delivers an accepted finish with manageable distribution of product throughout the cycle.
