The word functionalised indicates that a material has been modified for a purpose, but it is not a complete specification. In graphene coating discussions, it should prompt a question about the supplied grade rather than an automatic performance claim.
A manufacturer may provide a non-confidential description of the additive class while retaining proprietary formulation details. That can be enough for an accurate commercial explanation, provided the wording does not imply an undisclosed structure or concentration. Avoid naming a particular chemical modification unless it is documented for the ingredient in question.
A claim that a modified additive is easier to incorporate or improves a certain property still needs evidence at the relevant level. If the evidence concerns the raw ingredient, say so. If it concerns the complete coating, identify that formula and the test. These distinctions help a private-label buyer understand which statements can be used on packaging.
Use ‘functionalised’ with a clear scope. It can describe an ingredient choice, but it should not become shorthand for superior performance in every application.
