Bulk Coating Suppliers and Packers: Agree Who Investigates a Packaging Complaint

A packaging complaint in a multi-party supply chain needs a clear investigation route. Identify who coordinates the evidence and how the coating supplier, packer and component supplier contribute to the assessment.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

The key distinction

The first report should preserve the finished-pack identity and observed issue without assigning blame prematurely. A coordinated process avoids repeated requests and prevents each party from assuming another has resolved the customer's concern.

Practical checks

  1. Name the coordinating contact and escalation route.
  2. Collect the relevant product, run and component records.
  3. Record the agreed technical findings and next action.

Example

Illustrative example: a dispensing problem could involve the supplied closure, filling configuration or another factor. Sending the customer between suppliers without a shared case record delays the investigation.

Scope and limits

Do not declare a cause from photographs alone or make unsupported liability statements. Use the actual evidence and the parties' established commercial and technical process.
