Coating Stock Units: Keep Bottles, Litres and Cases in Separate Fields

A stock quantity is meaningful only with its unit. Keep bottle counts, liquid volume and case counts distinct, and use a controlled conversion based on the actual pack configuration.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

The key distinction

The same product family may be supplied in several sizes. A universal bottles-per-case or millilitres-per-bottle assumption can therefore distort stock reports when variants are combined. Preserve the SKU and packaging-level identity.

Practical checks

  1. Record the base counting unit for each item.
  2. Maintain the approved conversion factors by configuration.
  3. Reconcile converted totals with physical and commercial records.

Example

Arithmetic example: ten cases of twelve 50-millilitre bottles represent 120 bottles and six litres. The same case count with a different bottle size does not represent the same liquid volume.

Scope and limits

Do not infer usable volume from nominal stock alone. Condition, release status and approved handling still determine what material can actually be used or sold.
