Coating Production Batch and Filling Run: Preserve Both Identities

A production batch and a filling run are not necessarily the same grouping. Preserve their relationship so a finished bottle can be traced to both the liquid and its packaging operation.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

The key distinction

One approved liquid batch may be filled in several runs, while the actual arrangement depends on the supplier's process. The record should describe what happened without assuming the commercial SKU captures the full history.

Practical checks

  1. Identify the supplier's liquid-batch reference.
  2. Link each filling run and finished-unit coding scheme to it.
  3. Preserve component references where the approved traceability process requires them.

Example

Illustrative example: two filling runs use the same liquid batch but different approved packaging-component lots. A later packaging investigation needs the run-level distinction even if the liquid identity is shared.

Scope and limits

Do not infer permission to combine batches. This guide concerns traceability and does not authorize any mixing or departure from the supplier's approved filling process.
