Coating Sample Follow-Up: Ask Which Decision Remains Open

A sample follow-up is more useful when it identifies the buyer's remaining decision. Asking only whether the sample was liked can produce positive feedback without explaining whether the project can proceed.

The key distinction

The buyer may still be evaluating application, packaging, documentation or commercial scope. Separate those questions and avoid treating one favourable observation as approval of the complete offer.

Practical checks

  1. Ask which evaluation stage is complete.
  2. Record the unresolved requirement and needed evidence.
  3. Agree the next technical or commercial step.

Example

Illustrative example: an installer likes the application result, but the brand has not approved the retail package. A useful follow-up keeps the packaging decision visible instead of recording the whole project as approved.

Scope and limits

Do not pressure a buyer to make unsupported durability claims from a short trial. The follow-up should clarify the evidence gap and support an informed purchasing decision.
