Coating Sales Leads: Separate Application Fit from Purchase Readiness

A technically suitable enquiry may not be ready to purchase, while a ready buyer may still have an unresolved application fit. Track these dimensions separately when qualifying coating leads.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

The key distinction

Combining them into one score can hide the next necessary action. Technical review resolves suitability; commercial follow-up resolves timing, quantity and the proposed supply arrangement. A clear record keeps both conversations aligned.

Practical checks

  1. Record the application-fit status and supporting evidence.
  2. Record the purchase stage separately.
  3. Assign the next action to the unresolved dimension.

Example

Illustrative example: a distributor is ready to order but has not identified the intended substrate. High commercial readiness should not turn the missing compatibility assessment into an approval.

Scope and limits

Do not treat technical questions as obstacles to be bypassed for a sale. The purpose of qualification is an appropriate, supportable purchase rather than a larger count of apparently ready leads.
