Coating Support Recommendations: Separate Immediate Care from Final Diagnosis

An immediate product-approved care instruction does not necessarily establish the final cause of a reported issue. Label the purpose of the advice so the customer understands what is known and what remains under review.

The key distinction

The support record should distinguish information gathering, a permitted care step and a confirmed corrective action. This prevents a provisional suggestion from being repeated later as a definitive diagnosis.

Practical checks

  1. State the verified product and surface information.
  2. Explain the scope of the recommended step.
  3. Define what observation or follow-up is needed afterward.

Example

Illustrative example: support recommends an approved maintenance check while investigating reduced water behaviour. That step should not be presented as proof that contamination was the sole cause before the result is reviewed.

Scope and limits

Do not prescribe irreversible correction from incomplete information. Product instructions and qualified technical judgement govern the advice, and any remaining uncertainty should stay visible in the case record.
