Glass Coating Projects and Room Renaming: Preserve the Asset History

A room number can change during a building project. Keep the glass asset's identity linked to both the old and new location references so treatment and care records remain usable.

The key distinction

A simple mapping prevents maintenance staff from losing the product history when offices, hotel rooms or project zones are renumbered. The asset record should identify the pane or enclosure independently of a temporary construction label.

Practical checks

  1. Assign a stable asset identifier.
  2. Record location-name changes without overwriting the history.
  3. Check the mapping during the final maintenance handover.

Example

Illustrative example: an enclosure is coated under a construction room number, then handed over under a different hotel numbering scheme. Without a mapping, the maintenance team may retrieve instructions for the wrong surface.

Scope and limits

This is a documentation practice, not evidence that every pane received the same product. Preserve actual treatment records and distinguish untreated or replaced assets in the final register.
