Practical approach
Identify markings during the survey and agree a compatible preparation method around them. Record any pre-existing damage.
A small etched mark may be easy to overlook during a broad polishing or restoration pass.
Decision limits
Do not remove a marking to improve visual uniformity or imply that the coating changes the glass's safety classification.
