Systematic Coating Sampling: Check for a Repeating Production Pattern

Sampling every fixed number of units can align with a repeating production pattern. Review that possibility before assuming the selected units represent the whole filling run.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

The key distinction

A systematic plan may be useful, but its starting point and interval should suit the actual process. Repeating equipment, operator or packing cycles can affect which units are included.

Practical checks

  1. Describe relevant process cycles.
  2. Select the sampling approach through the approved quality plan.
  3. Record the actual sample positions and any deviations.

Example

Illustrative example: every tenth unit is sampled while a recurring process event also occurs every tenth unit. Depending on alignment, the sample could repeatedly include or miss that event.

Scope and limits

Do not change a required sampling plan informally. The responsible quality team should assess the design and its ability to represent the intended lot.
