A seam should be inspected before adding another treatment. Existing edge condition is important for distinguishing installation issues from later surface-care issues.

Practical approach
Photograph the seam, identify lifting or contamination and have the film installer address concerns before coating.
A dirty seam beneath a fresh finish may remain visible and harder to interpret afterward.
Decision limits
Do not use coating as an adhesive or as a way to conceal an unresolved film-edge defect.
