Practical approach
Preserve individual results and report an appropriate spread statistic or range with the sample count. Keep conditions and units clear.
Cleaning times of 4, 5 and 6 minutes average five, as do 1, 5 and 9 minutes, but the second group varies more.
Decision limits
Do not choose a summary solely because it makes a product look better. Match the reporting method to the practical decision.
