Coating Contact-Angle Tests: Control the Time After Drop Placement

A contact-angle observation is associated with a measurement time. Comparing an immediate image with a later image introduces a timing difference.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Practical approach

Define when the reading is taken and keep liquid, deposition and surface conditions consistent. Preserve the sequence when time-dependent behaviour matters.

One operator records the first usable frame while another waits several seconds. Their values may not describe the same observation.

Decision limits

Do not select whichever frame gives the most attractive number. Use the agreed method and report relevant changes over time.
