Practical approach
Record the base, finishing product, dates and applicable care instructions. Give the customer a readable summary linked to the installer record.
A later workshop may otherwise choose a cleaner or maintenance product based on the base-layer name alone.
Decision limits
Do not overwrite the original record when the finish is refreshed. Preserve the sequence so later observations can be interpreted against the actual system history.
