A golden sample is useful only when its approval status and component revisions are clear. An attractive sample on a desk can become obsolete without anyone noticing.

Practical approach
Identify the approved bottle, label, closure, insert and kit contents. Record the approval date and replace or withdraw the reference when an accepted change occurs.
Production staff compare a new carton with an older display sample whose label has already been revised. Both may look plausible while only one matches the order.
Decision limits
Do not let an informal display sample override the controlled packaging specification. Use the reference to support, not replace, written requirements.
