Previous wax or sealant matters when preparing paint for a curing coating. A normal wash may leave some treatment behind, while an aggressive wash may affect other materials without establishing that the paint is ready.
Gather the product history
Ask what has been applied and when, including wash-and-protect products and drying aids. Identify local differences, such as a repaired panel or recently polished bonnet. If the history is unknown, record that uncertainty.
Do not rely on water beading alone to identify a wax, sealant or old coating. Several products and contamination states can influence the same visible behaviour.
Select the preparation sequence
Follow the exact NANOLAB coating instructions and confirm the surface’s compatibility with the cleaning process. Washing, targeted decontamination, polishing where justified and final panel preparation have different roles.
Do not mix cleaners or use an improvised solvent blend to force a result. A suitable process should address residue without unnecessary damage to paint, film or adjacent trim.
