Every coating needs suitable preparation, but not every surface needs extensive polishing. Clean, stable paint in acceptable condition may require less correction than heavily marked paint. Coating does not remove scratches or haze, so the desired finish should be agreed before installation.
Polishing removes some material from the finish. The amount and effect depend on the paint system, equipment, abrasive and technique. Preserving clear coat is part of a good result.
After cleaning and decontamination, inspect under suitable light. Test a controlled combination on a representative area. Check whether the improvement meets the goal and whether further correction is justified. Treat repaired panels and fragile edges with particular care.
Deep scratches, failing clear coat or uncertain paint condition may need repair advice rather than more polishing. Do not promise full removal before assessing the surface.
Remove polishing residue using the coating system’s compatible preparation process. Reinspect the panel after that wipe, since oils can temporarily mask marks. Confirm the car is dry before coating. A successful preparation balances appearance, substrate condition and preservation rather than treating maximum correction as the default for every vehicle.
