A full polishing range.
From cutting and one-step correction to final finishing.
Trace recurring RV black streaks to their runoff paths and separate removable residue from finish damage before considering recoating.
Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge
Repeated dark streaks on an RV sidewall often follow a drainage path. Cleaning the visible mark without investigating the material carried by runoff can leave the same pattern returning. The streak's appearance alone does not identify its composition or prove a coating failure.
Photograph the mark before cleaning and note the roof edge, gutter, seal, fitting or graphic above it. Look for recurring drip points and retained debris using a safe inspection method. A problem concentrated below one fitting deserves a different investigation from uniform grime across the whole vehicle.
Use the vehicle and component care instructions when inspecting or cleaning the source area. Do not alter seals or drainage features merely to redirect a stain.
Identify the sidewall finish and any existing treatment. Use a cleaner and method approved for that combination, with controlled runoff and a representative test area where permitted. Stronger is not automatically better, especially around aged graphics, plastic windows and roof membranes.
Record whether the mark is removable residue or a remaining appearance change after suitable cleaning. Do not repeatedly scrub a persistent boundary without understanding whether the finish itself has been affected.
After cleaning, document the condition and next exposure. If the streak returns along the same path, investigate the source and maintenance interval. Reapplying a coating without addressing that path may not resolve the cause.
A coating can change surface maintenance behaviour but does not eliminate incoming dirt or repair a drainage defect. For the handover, explain the identified runoff zones and the approved cleaning routine. This gives the owner a practical way to monitor the vehicle without assuming that every recurring mark requires polishing or another coating layer.
