Ceramic Coating Care Before and After a Road Trip
Prepare simple cleaning supplies, manage insects and road film, and inspect vulnerable areas after high-mileage driving.

Before departure
Wash, dry and inspect the vehicle so existing marks are documented. Confirm that a newly coated car has reached the permitted release stage and understand any remaining wash restrictions. Plan a compatible response to contamination during the trip.
Pack suitable clean towels and a product approved for the intended spot-cleaning task. A roadside kit should not encourage wiping heavy dust or grit directly across paint.
During the journey
Address problematic contamination when practical and safe, using the product’s method. Avoid strong unverified cleaners at unfamiliar wash facilities. Check whether automatic services apply additional waxes or use contact equipment that conflicts with the care plan.
Coating does not provide a physical barrier equivalent to PPF against motorway stone impacts.
After returning
Use an appropriate pre-rinse and wash to remove road film and insects, then dry and inspect. Pay attention to the front bumper, mirrors, lower panels and film edges. Distinguish residue from chips or etched marks before correction. Record any new damage and targeted cleaning. A trip-related wash should restore a known clean condition, not automatically trigger full polishing or recoating.
