Choosing Microfiber Towels for Ceramic Coating
Choose towels by their role in the coating process, cleanliness and finish suitability rather than assuming the thickest towel is always best.

Match the towel to the task
Initial residue removal, final levelling and drying place different demands on a towel. Follow the coating’s recommended towel characteristics and process. Pile, weave, absorbency, edges and lint behaviour all matter; a single weight number does not establish suitability.
Use clean, inspected towels and test their behaviour on the intended finish. A soft-feeling towel can still hold grit or residues from previous use.
Separate removal and inspection
Where the process uses two towels, assign one to initial excess removal and another to the final finish check. Colour coding can make the distinction obvious. Fold towels to expose clean faces and replace them when product loading causes dragging or smearing.
Keep unused towels protected from dust and away from polishing debris or wheel-cleaning tools.
Handle used towels deliberately
Coating residue may cure in the fibres and make later paint contact unsuitable. Follow the coating and towel care instructions for cleaning or disposal. Do not assume laundering makes every coating towel safe for reuse on paint. Record and separate their role after the job. Reliable towel management prevents contamination from travelling from one stage or vehicle to the next.
