Preparing Paint for Ceramic Coating: The Correct Sequence

Inspect before choosing the treatment
Preparation is not a requirement to use every available cleaning and polishing product. Begin by recording damage, repairs and sensitive surfaces. Wash the vehicle to reveal the condition beneath loose dirt, then identify what remains. Iron particles, tar, mineral deposits and polishing defects call for different responses.
Choose the least aggressive suitable process for each issue. This preserves the finish and avoids adding work that the vehicle does not need.
Work through clear stages
After washing, perform any necessary targeted decontamination and rinse as instructed. Assess correction with appropriate lighting and a test area. If polishing is justified, agree on its limits and complete it before the final preparation wipe. Use a preparation product compatible with both the substrate and coating system.
Dry seams, mirrors, handles and other areas that can release water later. Inspect the surface again after preparation rather than assuming a completed checklist guarantees readiness.
The go-ahead check
The paint should be clean, stable, dry and at the agreed level of finish. No unidentified grease, residue or moisture should remain. If something looks wrong, stop and resolve it before opening the coating. Coating locks in neither a repair nor a better finish; the final appearance depends heavily on the condition established during preparation.
