Locker lids can have different finish histories and repeated handling. Treat accessible cosmetic faces separately from interiors and mechanisms.

Assess the starting condition

Identify paint, gelcoat or plastic and record repairs. Inspect seals, hinges and contact edges. A lid’s outside appearance does not establish the material or suitability of its underside.

A practical working method

  1. Clean and test a representative exterior area.
  2. Protect unapproved joints and mechanisms.
  3. Follow product instructions for application and cure.
  4. Inspect dry edges and residue before normal handling.

Common mistake

Filling a hinge gap with coating is not mechanism maintenance. Protection also cannot repair unstable paint or prevent every contact mark.

What a useful result looks like

A useful scope identifies treated faces and provides compatible cleaning. Preserve locker assembly requirements separately and record high-contact areas for later condition review.
