A lift call-button panel combines cosmetic metal with electrical and functional components. Keep coating and cleaning within the authorised surface scope.

Assess the starting condition

Identify the panel finish, button faces, display and openings. Follow equipment-provider requirements. Do not assume the entire assembly can be treated because its surround is stainless steel.

A practical working method

  1. Define the permitted decorative metal area.
  2. Protect controls and keep liquids out of gaps.
  3. Trial the approved preparation and treatment locally.
  4. Inspect the dry panel and document the completed scope.

Common mistake

Spraying across the full assembly can expose buttons or displays to an unapproved product. Surface protection does not resolve an existing control fault.

What a useful result looks like

A useful handover identifies treated metal and excluded equipment. Coordinate with the building’s maintenance provider, retaining the original control-cleaning and service instructions alongside the coating-care record.
