Identify whether the exposed surface is paint, clear-coated composite, film or textured plastic. Inspect mounting rigidity and existing chips before choosing a tool. Clean the lower face separately so dirt is not drawn onto the visible finish.
Polishing around loose mounting points or damaged paint can turn a cosmetic service into a repair problem. Ceramic coating also does not prevent new impact damage to the splitter.
Accept the achievable improvement with clear exclusions for chips, cracks and unsupported areas. Refer structural or mounting concerns appropriately, then choose protection for the verified outer finish.
