Electropolished Stainless Steel: Confirm the Supplied Finish Before Nano Coating

An electropolished component has a specific finishing history. Evaluate the actual outer surface and intended use before applying a generic stainless coating method.

Identify the finished component

Obtain the supplier’s finish description, relevant process record and care requirements. Record any later handling or treatment. A polished appearance alone does not establish that the component is electropolished or identify all requirements attached to it.

Define the application scope

State whether the proposed treatment concerns a decorative exterior or a specialised use. Food contact, process equipment and other specified applications need their own confirmation for the exact product. Do not infer approval from the word stainless.

Review preparation with the finish owner

Use a method appropriate to the supplied surface and the nano product instructions. Avoid adding abrasive preparation simply because another stainless finish used it successfully. Resolve unclear compatibility before the coating trial.

Inspect a representative result

Where an approved test is suitable, record dry appearance, application method and practical care observations. Keep the conclusion limited to what was evaluated. Preserve the original finish information alongside the coating record for future maintenance.
