Installer Feedback Forms: Ask for an Observation Before a Product Rating

A score without working conditions can be difficult to use in coating development. A short observation-first form gives technical teams a more useful account of an installer trial.

Identify the trial

Record the exact sample, substrate, preparation and application method. Include the relevant environment and any deviations from the supplied instructions. Keep the sample identity connected to the supplier’s trial record.

Separate stages of feedback

Ask about spreading, levelling, residue inspection and the accepted dry appearance as distinct observations. Describe what happened rather than using one overall label such as difficult. This makes follow-up questions more specific.

Define the rating scale

If a numerical rating is used, state what its endpoints mean and which stage it concerns. A high ease-of-use score should not be treated as a measured durability result. Preserve the written observations beside the score.

Request evidence and next steps

Invite contextual photographs and an explanation of any adjustment made during the trial. Ask what would need retesting before adoption. Return the findings to the technical team with their limitations rather than converting one installer opinion into a universal claim.

Frequently asked question

Is an overall star rating useful?

It can summarise an impression, but it becomes more useful when linked to defined questions, working conditions and observable results.
