A full polishing range.
From cutting and one-step correction to final finishing.
Compare heavy cut compounds by the complete correction, cleanup and finishing process. A fast cutting stage can still create a slower job.

The quickest heavy cut pass does not necessarily produce the quickest completed panel. Cleanup, pad management and a second polishing stage can erase its apparent advantage. Compare complete routes to the same accepted finish.
Choose comparable areas of suitable glossy paint. Identify the defects that should improve and those that will remain because further abrasion is inappropriate. Set an inspection method that both candidates must pass after compatible residue removal.
Use the approved pad, machine and working instructions for each route. The comparison is between usable systems, so it need not force incompatible pad pairings just to keep every component identical.
| Stage | Include |
|---|---|
| Cutting | Application and repeat cycles needed for the target |
| Management | Pad changes, cleaning and compound residue removal |
| Refinement | Finishing required to meet the clarity target |
| Inspection | Approved cleaning and assessment of the final surface |
For a hypothetical comparison, route A takes four minutes to cut and seven more to finish and inspect. Route B takes six minutes to cut and three more to finish and inspect. B is quicker overall despite the slower cutting stage. These are example arithmetic values, not product performance claims.
Repeat the promising route on another representative panel. Access, curvature, repair history and paint response may change the labour balance. Estimate a range for the vehicle rather than multiplying one ideal flat test area without adjustment.
Keep consumable cost and material preservation beside the timing result. A route that is quicker only by pursuing unnecessary defect removal is not an efficient answer to the agreed job.
Use the compound selection guide to define correction and refinement. The 3M finishing workflow provides a manufacturer example of distinct stages.
