A full polishing range.
From cutting and one-step correction to final finishing.
Check defect identity, pad condition, machine movement and correction limits in a useful order before choosing a stronger compound.

A scratch remaining after compounding does not identify the cause of the problem. The combination may be ineffective, the working method may be inconsistent, or the defect may be outside the sensible correction scope. Diagnose in an order that avoids unnecessary abrasion.
Clean and inspect the test area. Separate original scratches from residue, new haze and contamination. Compare the same location under consistent lighting.
If surrounding wash marks improve while one deep line remains, the compound is doing useful work. The remaining defect may require a stopping decision rather than a stronger whole-panel process.
Inspect pad loading, contamination and attachment. Compare with a clean serviceable pad of the supported type where appropriate.
Verify the liquid is the intended product and has been stored and prepared correctly. Do not assume poor results prove the formula is defective before checking its condition and use.
Confirm that the machine’s intended movement and contact are maintained. On a free-spinning DA, orbiting alone does not prove effective rotation. Inspect for missed strips or uneven coverage.
Review section size, product application and working cycle against the instructions. Change one relevant variable at a time so the result remains informative.
If the supported process still cannot achieve the goal, consider a different documented pairing only within the paint assessment. Do not convert persistence into an unlimited removal allowance.
Stop on signs of finish instability, unknown substrate or damage requiring repair. Some defects should remain; others require refinishing rather than further polishing.
Write the conclusion specifically: insufficient system performance, technique issue, unsuitable conditions or defect beyond scope. That is more useful than saying the compound is weak and repeating the same uncontrolled process with a stronger label.
