Colour preservation can be a primary requirement for decorative metal, matte finishes and architectural panels. A nano coating trial should establish whether the complete process changes the accepted appearance, rather than judging the result from an uncontrolled before-and-after photograph.
Record the original finish after the approved cleaning process and before coating. Keep a matching untreated reference where practical. If preparation changes the colour, document that separately so it is not attributed automatically to the coating.
Use samples from the same finish batch when possible. Natural or manufacturing variation between different panels can obscure the effect being evaluated.
Use the same lighting, viewing angle and background. Let the sample reach the instructed cured and dry condition before comparison. Avoid comparing one wet sample with one dry sample or relying on a phone camera that changes exposure and white balance between images.
Review the finish under the lighting of the actual installation as well as a consistent comparison setup.
If a numerical colour tolerance is part of the project, agree on a suitable measurement method and instrument with the relevant specialist. Record geometry, calibration and the treatment of glossy or textured surfaces. Do not invent a universal acceptable colour-difference number for every decorative finish.
Instrument data and visual approval can complement each other, but neither should be reported without its conditions.
State whether any darkening, tone shift or sheen change is allowed. Keep the accepted sample and record for later production or installation comparisons. Repeat the assessment after the intended cleaning cycle where relevant. A transparent nano coating is not automatically appearance-neutral; approval should reflect the actual surface and the design outcome the customer chose.
