Separate immediate liquid repellency from stain release after cleaning when evaluating nano coatings for decorative metal, glass and other surfaces.

A droplet that beads on a surface is a useful observation, but it does not prove that the surface will remain unstained after prolonged contact or drying. Stain release asks a different question: can the contaminant be removed through the approved cleaning process without leaving an unacceptable change?
Identify what the surface actually encounters, such as ordinary handling residue, water deposits or a specific permitted cleaning challenge. Record contact time and the planned removal method. Avoid using an unrelated dramatic stain simply because it produces a striking demonstration.
For formal product claims, use appropriate test procedures and representative specimens. Do not deliberately stain a customer’s surface to create a comparison.
Record initial wetting, appearance after exposure and the result after cleaning and drying. These stages can lead to different conclusions. A product may alter initial wetting without preventing a visible deposit, or it may support easier cleaning without making every liquid bead.
Do not describe a surface as stain proof based on one favourable observation.
Use a sample with the same substrate and finish as the intended application. A cleaner that removes a mark from glass may be unsuitable for chrome plating, lacquered brass or a matte coating. Compatibility must cover the cleaning step as well as the nano treatment.
Inspect colour, gloss and texture after cleaning. A removed contaminant is not a successful outcome if the cleaning process has damaged the finish.
Describe the tested substance, exposure and removal process. For everyday care, a modest statement about easier removal under defined conditions may be more useful than broad repellency language. The best nano coating evaluation connects the visible demonstration to the maintenance task the owner actually needs to perform.
