Ceramic Coating After PPF Slip-Solution Residue

Check film-installation residue and preparation requirements before adding ceramic coating to newly fitted paint protection film.

Updated · NANOLAB Knowledge

Freshly installed PPF may need a defined settling and preparation process before ceramic coating. Residue from installation products should be assessed with the film installer. Do not assume the surface is ready simply because the film looks clear from a distance.

Confirm the installation stage

Ask which film was fitted, when the work finished and what the manufacturer requires before additional treatment. Film settling and coating curing are different processes. Neither should be shortened by applying an unrelated timing rule from a paint-coating job.

Inspect edges and visible installation concerns with the installer. Moisture or an adhesive issue beneath the film cannot be corrected by cleaning or coating its outer surface. Resolve those questions first.

Use an approved preparation method

Identify any slip-solution or finishing residue on the exposed film. Select cleaning and final-preparation products supported by both the film and coating instructions. Do not assume a strong paint panel wipe is suitable for every film topcoat.

Test the complete sequence in an appropriate area. Check appearance after the surface dries, including streaks and residue near edges. Avoid forcing liquid under a film boundary during cleanup.

Coat only a confirmed-ready surface

For compatible glossy PPF, assess NANOLAB GLOSS and its current application requirements. Record the film identity and the approved preparation process with the job.

Give the owner care instructions that account for both the film installation and the new coating. If their waiting periods or restrictions differ, obtain a compatible combined plan rather than choosing the shorter one. A clear handover prevents film-settling concerns from being confused with coating behaviour later.
