Choosing and Managing Cloths for Coated Stainless Steel

A suitable cloth should be clean, intact and appropriate for the finish. Its previous use can introduce contamination even when the fabric itself feels soft.

Separate the jobs

Keep stainless cleaning cloths away from metal polishing, abrasive bathroom products and dirty outdoor work. Use separate cloths for residue removal and final drying where the care method requires them. A simple label or colour code is useful for shared kitchens and cleaning teams.

Inspect during use

Check for particles and hardened areas before touching the panel. Move to a clean section as oily marks accumulate, and replace the cloth when needed. Remove dropped or visibly contaminated items from the task until properly cleaned. Do not respond to a stubborn mark by pressing harder with a dirty cloth.

Maintain the cleaning kit

Launder and dry cloths according to their manufacturer’s instructions, then store them away from dust and open chemicals. Retire damaged items. If streaking begins after a change in laundry or cleaning products, record it in the maintenance notes before assuming the coating needs renewal.
