A Daily Cleaning Routine for Coated Stainless Steel

A simple routine can keep everyday marks from becoming a reason to experiment with stronger products. Match the method to the stainless finish and installed coating.

Start with a clean tool

Use a suitable cloth reserved for the surface, free from grit, polish and abrasive-cleaner residue. Check the manufacturer’s directions for the cleaner and wiping method. Do not carry a heavily contaminated kitchen cloth directly onto a decorative stainless panel.

Remove residue methodically

Work on manageable areas and use the cleaner as instructed. Follow the finish direction where specified, changing cloth sections as they load with residue. Complete any required rinsing or drying rather than leaving a film simply because it temporarily looks shiny.

Inspect the result dry

Look at the surface under the lighting normally used in the room. If a mark remains, identify whether it is contamination or a possible finish defect before applying more pressure. Record recurring locations and product changes. A short, consistent routine provides a clearer basis for support than alternating several polishes and sprays.
